On Tuesday, April 23, 2024, he will be tried before the Supreme Court annulment request of PASYMITE and PEMEN against the abolition of the Short and Medium Wave Broadcasting Centers by the Management of ERT.
With the arbitrary and illegal actions of the ERT Administration, the use of Short and Medium waves by Greek radio was abolished.
The broadcasts in Brahea and the Mesaia are an important source of information for the Hellenic diaspora, the Greek sailors, the inhabitants of inaccessible mountainous and island regions of the country, while they are directly linked to the adequacy of telecommunications, even to the national defense and civil protection itself .
The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) demonstrates the imperative to operate Short and Medium Wave as they broadcast across the globe and are the most reliable way to transmit information in times of extreme events and natural disasters.
Alongside the European Broadcasting Union ( EBU ) urges its members to continue using the existing Medium Wave ( MW ) and Short Wave ( SW ) broadcasting centers and to modernize them, since they are necessary for society as a whole, especially in crisis situations and in times of war.
The irresponsible policy of the ERT Administration deprives the Greek people of a rare public resource, affecting both the right to information of expatriates and sailors who are in areas without internet access, as well as the public interest itself, especially in times of intense risk. Political parties, trade unions and organizations reacted strongly and demand in every way the cancellation of the decisions, the re-operation and upgrading of these infrastructures, for the benefit of society.
We call on the Council of State to cancel the illegal and unconstitutional decisions of the ERT Administration.
We call on every political or trade union body, the workers, the citizens to support the struggle of the Unions and our colleagues, to cancel the illegal decisions of ERT, so that the channels of communication to the seafarers, emigrants and society are not closed.
