American-born singer passed away Kay Connorsone of the finalists of the Greek final for Eurovision in 2001, spreading sadness to her relatives and fans.
She herself made a transition from the Greek music scene, while in recent years she lived permanently in Frankfurt, performing with her band.
The unpleasant news was announced by the singer and composer, Dimitris Laskaridis, on social media:
“I just got the bad news. We competed together in 2001 to represent Greece in Eurovision. A lovely woman, person, fantastic singer. I was very sorry. You left early. Have a nice trip to the light Kay Connors”
Kay Konnors had claimed the Greek representation in the Eurovision Song Contest with the song “Once”finishing in second place, behind Antique and the “Die For You».
As infegreece writes, she was nominated in the national final of 2001 with “One more time”, composed and written by the Replete Bros, i.e. Dimitris and Antonis Papavomvolakis, a favorite of the committee.
Antique received 7 points, i.e. 4 (45%) of the televote + 3 from the panel, while Kay Konnors also received a 7, i.e. 3 (30% of the public + 4 from the panel).
“Lampsi” and both albums
The artist had become famous from the final title track of “Shine”, titled “If you love me»which she performed with her close collaborator – also late – Rena Verakou, with whom they had released two albums together, in 1990 and 1991. We have not located any other discography of hers.
