Chris Rock has “broken” his dignified silence about the slap he received from Will Smith on Oscar night by telling the audience at a concert in the UK that Smith “he gave the impression of a perfect man for 30 years but he’s just as ugly as the rest of us“.
Chris Rock was performing with David Chappelle at Liverpool’s M&S Arena on the first night of their tour. Chappelle asked Rock about the infamous slap, asking: “Did it hurt?“.
In response, Chris Rock – who has been silent on the matter until now – lashed out.
“That’s right, [email protected]…. hit me for a [email protected]… joke, the nicest joke I’ve ever told. “Will has been giving the impression of a perfect man for 30 years, and he tore off the mask and showed us that he’s just as bad as the rest of us.”
Whatever the consequences… I hope he doesn’t put his mask back on and let his true self breathe. I see myself in both men,” she said.
