Did we experience Dune, Blade Runner 2049 or Mad Max?

--

No matter how you take it, on Tuesday afternoon at Athena The Denis Villeneuve he had his due. The African dust in the Attic sky met the setting sun and the sky turned orange. Beyond the sky and social media caught fire: others felt the same way Ryan Gosling in the “Blade Runner 2049” waiting for the bus in Kifisias. “Pol Atreides” were preparing for the filming of the third “Dune”, and they waited for the giant desert worm… shouting “Lisan Al-Gaib”.

The post-apocalyptic mood had little of George Miller and “Mad Max”: those who do not see the time for it “Furiosa” coming next month, they could look for her yesterday Anya Taylor-Joy… in Pagrati.

For the unprecedented setting, however, the scientists were reassuring. The phenomenon of the scattering of solar radiation on the layer of dust, as it is officially called, it might have reminded… the end of the world, however, the dust was high in the atmosphere and its concentration in Attica (41 micrograms) remained at much lower levels than areas such as Crete (200 -800 micrograms).

Of course, one rarely finds one like this nofilter opportunity and so for two or three hours on Tuesday afternoon the cellphone cameras indulged in repeated clicks. Athenians saw “Dune” not only out the window but also in their every feed – some cameras achieved the legitimate result and others, reminiscent of the memes that circulate every full moon about what the moon looks like in the sky and how on the mobile screen (spoiler: completely different). With these and with those, anyway, the hashtag powder is today at number 1 of trends in X, counting 4,226 posts (at the time of writing the article).

Apart from the cinematic triptych from above that set up… mini-festivals on social media, there were also the most original ones. From the Cool Reviews who sharpened their always ironic-elitist pen and “played” with the well-known “red meme” from Seinfeld up to the eternal ones assigned to “Unacceptable” who sent John not to Egypt, but to Kalamata. Besides, on the streets yesterday afternoon we also saw… youigeese.
