The severe bad weather that has been hitting the country since Thursday was still present. Improved weather on Sunday, a short break in rain and warm again according to the weather forecast.
In more detail, on Sunday 4/9, sunshine and a few clouds are expected in the continental areas in the morning hours. After noon, the clouds will thicken in the central highlands and in Macedonia. Local rains and storms will occur from the afternoon in Central and Eastern Macedonia and at night in Eastern Thessaly.
The temperature at normal levels for the season and with a small increase in the west, according to the meteo of the National Observatory of Athens, will vary in Western Macedonia from 14 to 27 degrees Celsius, in the rest of Macedonia and Thrace from 20 to 31, in Thessaly from 21 to 32, in Epirus from 16 to 30, in Sterea from 19 to 32, in the Peloponnese from 18 to 32, in the Ionian Islands from 19 to 29, in the Northern Aegean Islands from 20 to 29 degrees, in the Eastern Aegean Islands from 19 to 34, in the Cyclades from 20 to 31, in the Dodecanese from 24 to 30 and in Crete from 19 to 32 degrees Celsius.
Winds in the Central and Northern Aegean will blow from northwest directions 2 to 4 and locally up to 5 Beaufort. In the South Aegean the winds will blow from north directions 4 to 6 Beaufort. In the Ionian the winds will blow from northwest directions 3 to 4 and from noon to 5 Beaufort. Northerly winds will reduce the concentration of dust in the atmosphere over our country.
In Attica, sunshine and only a few clouds in the afternoon are forecast. Winds will blow from variable directions light to 3 Beaufort. The temperature in the center of Athens will range from 24 to 34 degrees Celsius.
In the prefecture of Thessaloniki, initially sunshine and a few clouds are expected, which will gradually thicken in the afternoon and storms will occur. Temporarily the rains will be heavy. Winds will blow from northwest directions 2 to 4 Beaufort and during storms up to 6 Beaufort. The temperature in the center of Thessaloniki will range from 22 to 30 degrees Celsius.
The weather on Monday, September 5
In Macedonia, Epirus, Thessaly, Sporades, eastern Sterea, Evia and in the morning hours in the northern Ionian, unsettled weather is forecast at times cloudy, with local rains and sporadic storms. The phenomena which in central Macedonia, Thessaly and the Sporades will probably be strong until noon, will weaken from the afternoon and the weather will improve in most areas. In the rest of the country a few clouds, which in the mainland and Crete in the midday and afternoon hours will increase and there will be local rains and sporadic storms in the mainland.
Winds will blow from north directions in the west 4 to 5, in the east 5 to 7 and in the Aegean gradually local 8 Beaufort.
The temperature will drop slightly in the east and will reach 28 to 29 degrees in the central and northern mainland, the Cyclades and northern Crete, and 30 to 32 degrees Celsius in the rest of the country.
The weather on Tuesday, September 6
In Macedonia, Thessaly, Sporades, eastern Sterea, Evia and northern Crete, temporarily increased clouds with local rains and in the midday and afternoon hours in the northern highlands possibly isolated storms. In the rest of the country, generally clear weather, with temporary clouds in the continental areas in the midday and afternoon hours, so in the highlands of Epirus local rains may occur.
Winds will blow from north directions in the west 3 to 5, in the east 5 to 7 and locally in the Aegean 8 Beaufort.
The temperature will drop slightly mainly in the north.
The weather on Wednesday, September 7
Generally clear weather with temporary clouds in the eastern mainland and northern Crete, where there will be a few local rains.
Winds will blow from north directions in the west 3 to 4 and in the east 5 to 7 Beaufort.
The temperature will not change appreciably.
The weather on Thursday 8 and Friday 9 September
Generally clear weather, with a few temporary clouds in the northern mountains in the midday and afternoon hours.
Winds will blow from north directions in the west 3 to 4, in the east 4 to 6 and in the Aegean temporarily on Thursday local 7 Beaufort.
The temperature will rise slightly mainly on Friday.
