In parallel with the same prosecutor’s order, the summons submitted by the family of the unfortunate student against the involved police officers and the one who carried out the 1st EDE was rejected, as it was not proven that the commission of more serious acts than those for which the three involved police officers are already accused. An EDE was ordered for the beating and upon its completion the Ombudsman was informed, to whom a copy was sent. The Ombudsman found deficiencies in the EDE, based on the complaints filed by the parents of Vassilis Maggos, and requested its completion with a report he sent to the Police Directorate on 9/1/2021. Through the objections filed by the Citizen’s Advocate, a new prosecutorial investigation was conducted, which, with the receipt of 26 new statements, essentially reached the conclusions of the first conclusion.
Through the new report, the three policemen are not referred for torture, as the family had requested in a lawsuit, nor for grievous bodily harm, but for dangerous bodily harm.
