Patras: Pfizer Collaboration with the IoT-Lab of the University’s Department of Computer Engineering and Informatics

Start of collaboration between Pfizer’s Center for Digital Innovation (CDI) in Thessaloniki and the IoT-Lab Laboratory directed by Professor Sotiris Nicoletseas at the Department of Computer Engineering and Informatics of the University of Patras.

The object of this collaboration is the development of new methods for the diagnosis and continuous monitoring of diseases, through Internet of Things (IoT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies. In particular, the planned solution will take advantage of smartphones, as widespread and easily accessible interconnected devices with upgraded capabilities.

Using voice samples and Artificial Intelligence, the solution will provide new, digital biomarkers for disease diagnosis and monitoring at low cost and with remote access. Such an application will facilitate remote diagnosis and monitoring by healthcare professionals, as well as patient self-management.
