A cycle of 22 years is definitively closed for the “Asteras” hotel in the center of Larissa, which made headlines. The two years of the pandemic have magnified the problems faced by the hotel’s ownership and despite the fact that the hotel had reopened its doors after being suspended for the past year and the 10 employees working there expected to soon start renovation work, they eventually found themselves out of a job. An employee of the hotel speaking to “E” spoke of a “sudden death”, since everyone expected that they would enter the new development law and soon they would start renovation work on the hotel that was facing several problems, financially and structurally, and instead they were informed that the coming Monday they will have to sign their dismissals. “We were all patient and hoping. It’s sad that so many people will suddenly be out of work, but at the same time it’s just as sad that a historic hotel in the heart of the city is closing,” says the hotel employee. The operation of the hotel, located on Asklipio, corner of Kouma Street and a stone’s throw from the Post Office Square, began in April 2000 and has 63 rooms, of which 19 are single and 44 are double rooms.
