The former owner of the historic Malamatina winery calls on employees to reflect on their responsibilities towards their colleagues
Intervention about what has been happening lately with the workers’ strike and the serious incidents at the historic “Malamatina” winery, the previous owner made a written statement late Thursday night, Konstantinos Malamatinas.
The 68-year-old businessman notes that he is watching “with great sadness and concern the unpleasant things happening in the last month in Malamatina”.
“My personal efforts to save the company and restore it, in order not to lead it to disorderly bankruptcy, aimed first and foremost at maintaining production activity in Thessaloniki and preserving jobs,” he says characteristically.
“Unfortunately”, he underlines, “my efforts and choices, which had a great personal cost and were supported by the employees, may be in vain and it’s a shame”.
“I ask the workers to reflect on their responsibilities towards their colleagues and to defend the right to work and fair pay, maintaining and strengthening the productive activity of the factory in Kalochori.
Thessaloniki cannot afford another closed factory“, concludes the statement of Kostas Malamatina.
