The Exodus Procession of the Protopr. Kon/nou Giannakopoulos in Kalamata


Yesterday afternoon, Wednesday, August 31, 2022, the exodus Mass of Protopresbyter Konstantinos Giannakopoulos, former Vicar of the Metropolitan Church of the Intercession of Christ Kalamata, who died at the age of 87, was held in an emotional atmosphere.

Reverend officiated at the Mass. Metropolitan of Stagios and Meteora Mr. Theoklitos, flanked by priests of the Metropolis.

During his funeral speech, the Metropolitan of Stagon, after conveying the condolence wishes of the Metropolitan of Messinia Mr. Chrysostomos, who is absent on a trip to Constantinople, referred to the person of the late priest, emphasizing the gifts with which the Grace of God had endowed him, as well as his significant contribution to the local Church. Visibly moved, he referred to his long-term collaboration with Fr. Konstantinos, but also to the important help he offered him throughout the time he served as Proto-Consignor of the Holy Metropolis of Messinia.

Afterwards, the burial of the remains of the migrant priest took place in the Assumption Cemetery of Kalamata, according to his wish.

The MPs Ioannis Lambropoulos and Periklis Mantas, the Deputy Regional Governor Efstathios Anastasopoulos, Deputy Mayors and Municipal Councilors of the Municipality of Kalamata, the Director of the Messinia Hospital Eleni Aliferi, as well as representatives of other local Agencies were present.
