A delegation of the Beijing University of Chemical Technology (BUCT) from China visited the New Campus of the University of Western Macedonia (PDM) in Kozani with an agenda of many and important issues.
The Vice President of BUCT Prof. WANG Feng, accompanied by high-ranking officials of the Foundation, met with the Rector, Professor Theodoros Theodoulidis, the Vice-Rector for International Relations, Extraversion and Inclusive Care, Professor Eleni Griva, the Professor of the Department of Chemical Engineering, Maria Goula, and the Assistant Professor of the Department, Nikolaos Harisiou, in order to the bases for the expansion of existing partnerships. During the visit, the renewal of the memorandum of cooperation between the two Foundations was signed and its expansion with a series of new joint actions, as this had been agreed during the visit of Mr. Theodoulidis in December to Beijing, where he participated as an invited speaker at the International Forum for Academic and Industrial Cooperation, in the framework of the “One Road – One Belt” global initiative.
The two Universities agreed to intensify their efforts to form a joint English-language program of undergraduate and postgraduate studies as well as to organize a summer school in Western Macedonia for Chinese students. At the same time, the intention of the two Institutions was expressed to strengthen their cooperation ties through the establishment of a joint research center in Kozani, which will strengthen the dynamics of the partnerships of the two Institutions. For the last five years, BUCT and PDM research groups have been collaborating in research projects with significant results and are planning to submit new joint research proposals in the framework of the national action “Bilateral and Multilateral S&T Cooperation Greece – China”, Erasmus+ and the program -EU framework, Horizon Europe, for research and innovation in the period 2021-2027.
