Koutsoubas met the Amazon union, the president wearing a PAME hat – See video and photos

A “heart-to-heart meeting” with Chris Smallsthe president of the Amazon Labor Union and members of the union’s management, was met by the secretary general of the Central Committee of the KKE, Dimitris Koutsoubas, who is visiting the USA as the head of the party’s delegation.

Union members greeted him with applause and chants at noon Friday at the union’s Staten Island offices. Smalls, as seen in the video, was wearing a PAME cap.

At the meeting the delegation of the party had the opportunity to be informed “about the action of the unionthe war they receive from the employer in their constant struggle for wages and against the terrible intensification, in “facilities built like prisons without even ventilation”, without even the right to sick leave beyond 10 hours a year”.

Amazon workers collectively reported “on the union’s never-ending fight for rights” against a company like Amazon, on the effort to organize even more workers into the union – which has over 8,000 members at the JFK airport facility alone– and the difficulties they face in a company that “has an official policy to change policy whenever it wants”, with constant bans on their action”.

He also dealt with “the war in Palestine, the great struggles being developed in the US by workers and students against the genocide of the Palestinian people and the support provided by large business groups, such as Amazon, to the state of Israel.” Mr. Koutsoubas expressed the “undivided solidarity of the KKE towards the Amazon union”, stressing that “the pioneering action it is developing, in very difficult conditions, shows the way of the organized assertion of workers all over the world”.

The party’s delegation also includes Zisis Lymberidis, member of the KKE Central Committee Secretariat, Lefteris Nikolaou – Alavanos, KKE MEP and re-candidate and Kostas Gouliamos, also MEP candidate of the Party. Claudia Ashterman, Arlene Kingston, Tristan Lion Dutchin, Danielle Hayden, Gerald Bryson, Jordan Glowers, Derick Palmer, Rinna Cummings and Mena Shuler also participated on behalf of the Association’s Management.
