An extremely interesting scientific event was organized on Friday afternoon (26/4) at the “Samaras” Hotel by the Lamia Bar Association regarding the latest amendments to the Criminal Code and Criminal Procedure Code by Law 5090/23-2-24, as will apply from 1the May.
The tightening of the framework provided for offenses that until now provided for the suspension of the execution of the sentence, but also for the crimes of negligence, is something that should not go unnoticed, as well as the fact that the legal world is faced with another change, which they even fear that it won’t be the last!
As pointed out by the President of the Lamia Bar Association Thanasis Makrygiannis even for sentences of 2-3 years there will be a partial sentence of 1 to 6 months.

Speakers at the event, analyzing the changes brought to the Criminal Code and the Criminal Procedure Code by the new law, were the Deputy Prosecutor of Appeals of Lamia Nikitas Theologitis, the Deputy Prosecutor of Appeals Piraeus Haris Lakafosis (both have served as heads of the Lamia First Instance Prosecutor’s Office), the well-known Lawyer and Advisor on criminal matters of the Plenary of the Bar Associations of Greece Polychronis Tsiridis and the also well-known Lawyer and Member of the Union of Greek Criminologists and the Hellenic Society of Criminal Law, Thrasyvoulos of Kontaxis.
They addressed a greeting with short and apt remarks on the news brought by Law 5090 and the President of the First Instance of Lamia Christina Papagianni and the Prosecutor of First Instance of Lamia Simela Karakasidou.
The present was also given by His Eminence Metropolitan Fthiotidos Mr. Simeonas he always does, when his obligations allow him, at the events of his colleagues (as a law graduate), pointing out in his speech the tightening of the framework and the attention that the officers of the law must show but also the citizens.
In the packed event hall of the Hotel, it should be noted that in addition to the lawyers – members of the Board of Directors of Lamia, as well as judicial and prosecutorial officials, there were also citizens as the event was open to all.
