The White House made a first announcement after the news postponing the Turkish president’s visit to the US and canceling his meeting with Joe Biden.

A spokesman for the US embassy said in particular that the White House looks forward to receiving Recep Tayyip Erdogan at a time convenient for both parties. “However, we did not manage to align our schedules” he emphasized.

The White House confirmed to CNN Turk the postponement of the Turkish president’s visit to Washington on May 9.

According to the television station’s correspondent in Washington, there was a statement from the White House stating: “We look forward to hosting President Erdogan at the White House at a mutually convenient time. However, we were unable to adjust our schedules. We have no visit to announce at this time.”

The period of postponement of the visit

Earlier it became known that the visit of Recep Tayyip Erdogan to the USA and the consequent meeting with Joe Biden.

According to information, during the Ankara and Washington negotiations, no common ground seems to have been found on the prerequisites of the meeting and joint statements, such as support for Hamas (whose leadership the Turkish president met in Istanbul a few days ago).

In this context, the Americans seem not to have given the green light for the meeting, with the result that Erdogan’s side is leaking today through an official of his government that he postponed the meeting due to a busy schedule.

It is noted that for days there have been behind-the-scenes internal pressures on the US government regarding the possibility of a meeting with Erdogan due to the support for Hamas, especially since the moment the Joe Biden is in pre-election period.

This development is yet another page in the thriller of Erdogan’s trip to the US as while he and Turkey for months seemed to have been trying very hard behind the scenes to make it happen, in recent weeks a lot of ink has been spilled over whether or not it has been cancelled. The most characteristic of all is a publication by Turkish Media which five days ago had broadcast that the trip was cancelled.

Today on the other hand, since the morning, international media such as Bloomberg they announced that the trip would eventually take place and in fact on May 9 something that, as everything shows, was finally overturned.

A recital of bigotry and an embrace with Hamas

In the same context, speaking today in Istanbul, the Turkish president touched on everything that was a “red flag” for the US, such as support for Hamas.

“Because Israel and its Western supporters are asking for something like this, we will not be one of those who throw mud at Hamas and call it a terrorist organization… Let some people be disturbed, and let them change their facts. I will continue to see our brothers Hamas, who defend their homeland against the occupiers, as the National Resistance of Palestine” Turkish President Erdogan clarified, although the West and Israel treat Hamas as a terrorist organization.

In fact, Erdogan shared these statements in a tweet:

The Turkish president repeated the “Hitler” characterization of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu over operations in Gaza. “Today’s Hitlers and Nazis are murderers who killed more than 15,000 children in Gaza. Netanyahu, like the murderers before him, has infamously written his name in history as the butcher of Gaza.” noted features.

Persisting, Erdogan said:In Israel they think they can cover up the murders they committed in Gaza with the press and lobbying power they have and accuse us of anti-Semitism. From here, I find it useful to remind them of this truth again. No matter what you do it’s futile no matter how hard you try it’s futile You can’t chain Tayyip Erdogan’s heart or words. We will never succumb to your threats and pressures…”

“Turkey throughout its history of 2000 years, has never committed genocide, has never been a colonial state and in a state of war has not disturbed civilians” noted among other things.

Then, launching an attack on the USA on the occasion of Biden’s announcement about the Armenian genocide, he said:the US instead of making baseless allegations against Turkey about the events of 1915, they should look at Gaza. To see the genocide that Israel is attempting to commit in Gaza and to make efforts to stop it. We reject the hypocritical policy of the West on Gaza, which has exceeded the limits of our patience.”
