The Hellenic Police issued a notice through which it responds to the hostage situation of the rector of the University of Patras.

In particular, as emphasized by EL.AS. at noon on Friday there was a protest gathering outside the Rectorate of the University of Patras by about 100 people.

These people, according to the police, remained outside the premises until 17:50, writing relevant slogans on the wall of the building with spray paint.

However, as explained by the Greek Police, during the gathering the rector was in communication with the relevant Police Directorate, without requesting the assistance of police forces.

Regarding publications referring to an incident with the Rector of the University of Patras, it is announced that at noon today, Friday, April 26, 2024, there was a gathering – protest of approximately 100 people outside the Rectorate of the University of Patras.

The individuals remained outside the area until 5:50 p.m., when they left the scene, writing relevant slogans on the wall of the building with spray paint.

During the development of the aforementioned gathering, there was continuous communication between the General Regional Police Directorate of Western Greece and the Rector of the University without ever requesting the assistance of the police forces.
