The Release Athens 2024 welcomes them Beak> and Mount Kimbie, on Wednesday July 17, in Water Square. Geoff Barrow’s band, the one and only Portishead, and the London group that has been at the forefront of the British underground for fifteen years, will join Massive Attack in one of the most enjoyable nights of this summer.
Beak> currently consists of Geoff Barrow of Portishead, Will Young, bassist for Robert Plant, and Billy Fuller aka Moon Gangs. With influences ranging from krautrock to experimental/electronic music, Beak> released their self-titled debut in 2009, which stood out for its improvisational nature.

Since then, they have recorded two more studio albums, signed the soundtrack for the psychological drama “Couple In A Hole”, by Belgian director Tom Geen, and released a series of great singles such as “Sex Music”, “The Meader” and more recently “Kosmik Musik”, which accompanied the sci-fi graphic novel by Joe Currie and Ben Wheatley.
To date they have performed hundreds of performances in Europe and America, gaining a well-deserved fanatical audience and the reputation of a great live band that presents something completely different at each performance.

Formed in 2008 in London by Dominic Maker and Kai Campos, Mount Kimbie have over the past fifteen years built a huge catalog of the most relevant and influential music to come out of the ever-restless English big city scene.
From their debut, “Crooks & Lovers”, which was featured on over 30 lists of the top albums of the last decade (including Pitchfork, Mixmag, Resident Advisor and NME), to “The Sunset Violent”, which was released before in just a few weeks, the band has evolved from one of the leading names in British electronic music to one of the most pioneering bands of modern indie.
With their longtime collaborators Andrea Balency-Béarn and Marc Pell now officially members of the group, Mount Kimbie come to Water Square to present their adventurous music and together with Massive Attack and Beak>, give us one of the most interesting evenings of this summer.
