Olympic Flame: Closed roads in the center of Athens – Heading to Kallimarmaro

Outside Kallimarmaro, hundreds of citizens gather in the last hour, for the ceremony of handing over the Olympic Flame to France.

The ceremony is scheduled to start at 18:30 in the afternoon today and already outside Kallimarmaro, a large number of people have gathered to watch the great sporting and cultural event, the handover ceremony of the Olympic Flame from Greece to France for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

It is recalled that the Olympic Flame “traveled” for 11 days in various cities of the country and today it will be handed over to the delegation of the “Paris 2024” Organizing Committee. The presenter of the ceremony will be Nikos Aliagas, while Nana Mouschouri will have a central role. The Olympic Flame in Kallimarmaro will be carried by the Greek walking champion Antigoni Drisbiotis.

The last person to receive the Flame is the captain of the National polo team, Yiannis Fundoulis, together with his teammates. Finally, the President of the Hellenic Olympic Committee, Spyros Kapralos, will hand over the Olympic Flame to the President of the “PARIS 2024” Organizing Committee, Toni Estangue, thus continuing its “journey” to France.

On which roads is the traffic stopped due to the Olympic Flame ceremony?

Traffic arrangements are in effect today due to the events for the handing over of the Olympic Flame as part of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. More specifically, there is a complete stop to the traffic of vehicles, as well as a ban on stopping and parking them, (with the exception of the vehicles that will participate in the torch relay), on the following streets of the Municipality of Athens, as follows:

• Between 00:01 on Thursday 25-4-2024 and 22:00 on Friday 26-4-2024:

– Archimedes, in its section from Plastira Square to Dikarchou Street.

• During the hours 00:01′ to 22:00′ of Friday 26-4-2024:

– Euphoric, throughout its length.

– Karaiskaki Square (Discovolos).

•At 17:00 on Friday 26-4-2024, until the end of the event:

– Vas. Kon/nou Avenue, in its section from Vas. Sofias Avenue to Ardittou Street and in both traffic streams.

– Arditto, along its entire length in both traffic streams, as well as its perpendiculars, up to the first parallel street.

– Ir. Atticus, along its entire length.
