Patras: Students trapped the rector of the University in his office
An alarm was sounded at the University of Patras, as students trapped the rector in his office.
According to information, Christos Bouras has been locked in his office since 12:00 noon, while the students are protesting.
Mr. Bouras maintains that the students are also guarding his car so that he cannot leave the University.
The students object that this is a protest action and demand that the prosecutions of four students who had been sanctioned from a previous mobilization be withdrawn. “I am not afraid of anything and I will not leave the University” declares Mr. Bouras.
The protest is being held because 4 students are not allowed to take exams in the June exam. Mr. Bouras has been asking for help from the authorities for some time but so far they have not responded and the situation remains tense.
For his part, the rector Christos Bouras categorically denied this claim, speaking of slander, arguing that it is not a peaceful demonstration when there are about 100 people who paint walls, have surrounded cars and made the rector a poster.
Mr. Bouras, in his Facebook post, states: “For 4 hours the Rector of the University of Patras has been trapped in his office and his car is being guarded so that he does not use it to escape. I want to state unequivocally that I am not afraid of anything and I will not leave the University. Today at the University we will announce the Olympian Mr. N. Kaklamanakis as an Honorary Professor. Let the Political System take its responsibilities and break the guilty silences. Everyone knows and is aware. Such anti-democratic and interventionist actions must stop and those who support them must be condemned. The Public University belongs to everyone and has no owners.”
He claimed that he remains blocked and that he has appealed to all the Authorities.
