What Antonis Samaras said while participating in the proceedings of the 10th Panhellenic Conference on the Development of Greek Agriculture

Plenty of political-economic messages included a speech by Antonis Samaras on agricultural policy on the sidelines of a conference in Kalamata.

Participating in the proceedings of the 10th Panhellenic Conference for the Development of Greek Agriculture, former Prime Minister Antonis Samaras was highly critical of the way in which agricultural policy is implemented.

According to best-tv.gr, Antonis Samaras from the podium of the conference spoke about the risks and what is shaped by the political sequence in Europe and expressed the framework of the strategy that must be drawn up at the national level as well. The mention of how “Europe should once again make its duty its role and its role its duty”

He raised all the issues related to the agricultural sector. Much more the challenges and open issues that are currently troubling and preoccupying Europe.

The three goals

The former Prime Minister spoke about the present and future of Greek Georgia with facts and figures and rang a “bell” for the three targets which Europe must turn to immediately. Today, as he said, “The issue of agricultural policy is crucial for man, for his survival, I would say for his culture…” and as the challenges keep growing “Radical solutions and policy changes are needed.”

The former Prime Minister and current Member of Parliament for Messinia of the ND, referred to events of the past, talking about an incident that took place in the 70s. “I was listening to Mr. Avgoulas and I inevitably remembered that in 1977, Konstantinos Karamanlis, leader of the party and Prime Minister, had honored me to participate in the Joint Parliamentary Committee of Greece – EEC, before we joined the EU. Its president was the then finance minister Iagos Pesmazoglou. Next to him and next to us was always the professor. From then on, he was the one who radiated the necessary energy and knowledge in order to always be first in pursuit of the issues our country was asking for.

Pesmazoglou, then, the forgiven, told us before we went to Brussels for the first big meeting, about agriculture, “remember two things, I have given each of you to represent a product – a colleague from Imathia, for example, had the peaches, me the oil – and you will make a good speech about your product, you will show the dynamics it has and never forget you will speak Greek.

Because then there was a question in the EU about whether they would “accept Greek as one of the official languages…”

At another point he characteristically said that “we made Turkey a participant on our plate”, while closing the speech he emphasized that we don’t just need a plan but a compass!
