On June 19, the trial of the 11 elected members of the Spartans, Ilias Kasidiaris and a lawyer was set for the case of cheating the electorate.
This development came after the completion of the preliminary examination personally carried out by the prosecutor of the Supreme Court, Georgia Adelini, and the initiation of criminal proceedings against the 11 deputies of the Spartans for defrauding the voters in last year’s elections, for moral complicity in the fraud in the incarceration of Domokos prison and for complicity in the above offense to the lawyer.
The 11 accused MPs, who were elected with the “Spartiates” party, are facing the crime of deceiving voters, while according to the prosecution, the imprisoned Ilias Kasidiaris is accused of moral complicity in the deception. At the same time, a lawyer is accused, who participated in the contacts of the candidates for parliament at the time with the imprisoned former parliamentarian, who is accused of complicity in deceiving the voters.
The prosecution against Kasidiaris as a moral perpetrator, i.e. as the hidden leader of the “Spartians”, was based on evidence from the investigation of Mrs. Adeilinis, from which it emerges his constant contacts from prison with candidate deputies of the “Spartians” of which he had directing and controlling unlawfully as it is prohibited by law for anyone convicted of a criminal organization.
The file on the case began to be formed last September, when Vassilis Stigas denounced behind-the-scenes actions within his party. The prosecutor of the Supreme Court then started an investigation that she conducted herself. Mr. Stigas testified twice to Ms. Adeilinis, who called both the party’s deputies and Ilias Kasidiaris for explanations. At the end of the investigation, the prosecutor of the Supreme Court gave an order for criminal prosecution.
The next decision of the Justice for the “Spartiates” party will be the most crucial as it concerns the judgment of the Supreme Special Court which, as the Electoral Court, adjudicated the appeals that have been made regarding the legality of participation in the Parliament, of the Spartan party.
