The revelations about sexual harassment of minors led to an arrest warrant against the antiquities guard in Nisyros.

Arrest warrant against the 63-year-old antiquities guard in Nisyros, who is accused, among other things, of sexual indecency against minorsthe authorities issued after the barrage of complaints from parents.

According to information, at noon on Friday, the Rhodes Prosecutor’s Office – after the case file submitted by EL.AS with the initial complaint and the eleven that followed – issued an arrest warrant for the antiquities guard of the museum.

The 63-year-old is accused of:

  • sexual indecency against minors
  • attempted sexual acts with minors
  • drug possession

According to information, the antiquities guard – who is now outside of Nisyros – is being sought.

The archeologist denies the accusations

He himself, speaking to MEGA, declares ignorance of the complaints, claiming that he is in Crete, which the authorities know.

“I don’t know anything like that (regarding the arrest warrant), the police know where I am, I’ve informed them, I don’t think I have any problems. Nobody, nobody, nobody (s.s. hasn’t called him). I have declared my address properly and I will declare where I am, whatever it is, I will declare it normally.”

As he claims “He is a legal citizen. A man who has never been involved in a court of law knows that it is a piece of cake. When the time comes, I will speak too. I’m not being hunted, they know where I am.”

The timeline of the case

It is recalled that the case came to light after complaint by father of 10-year-oldwho even risked being deported because he had no papers.

The father of the 10-year-old boy went to the AT of the island and, after complaining that the antiquities guard showed his son a video with pornographic material, he was faced with the possibility of deportation as he did not have legal documents.

This fact caused the reaction of the local community which stood by the father of the 10-year-old.

Other complaints from parents of minors against the archeologist followed, eleven in number. Initially, it seems that children aged 10-15 started talking about this particular man at their school and as soon as this became known and their parents were also informed, complaints to the Police followed.

All of them related to incidents of sexual indecency, most of them more than two months old. The alleged perpetrator allegedly showed videos of obscene content to minors, while on at least one occasion he appeared naked to a 15-year-old, gave him to smoke cannabis and tried to touch him on the thigh. The particular minor, in fact, is said to have visited the particular man at least 15 times.
