Heraklion: Premiere for the Easter market – The traffic in the shops is increasing

There are only eight days left until Easter and the market has started to move slowly, as consumers gradually cover the needs of the days.

Because of the precision in many products, many consumers first do a market research before purchasing the products.

In Heraklion, and in what regards at the Easter table the interest is focused on arrowroot, the price of which this year – as the representatives of the market cautiously point out – will be slightly increased by 30 to 40 cents per kilo.

However, the Consumer Institute of the General Federation of Consumers of Greece finds that “Easter 2024 will be 6% more expensive than the already expensive Easter 2023.

In special cases, it can even exceed 10% depending on the quality of the products”. Research also shows that the expenses for the table are calculated at 190 euros per household.

From the prices it appears that, at a festive table for 6 to 8 people, the products that will accompany the arrow will be more expensive this year. Some of these are fruits, sweets, alcoholic beverages such as wine and beer and soft drinks.

However, despite the price increases, the Easter gift, as well as the subsidies that will be paid to the agricultural world, will stimulate the buying interest with butchers, supermarkets, patisseries and clothing, footwear and gift shops having their due.

Parents and godparents, like every year and this year as well, are expected in every possible way to meet their family and social obligations in a dignified way.

On Sunday, the festive hours apply

In fact, in order to better serve the public, the festive opening hours of Heraklion’s commercial stores will be applied from Sunday, April 28, which will last until May 7.

During this time, the businessmen hope to take a breather since, as is known, several local businesses are fighting for survival.
