The three zones

All of the studies concern the regeneration of the land zone of the coastal front of the Port of Hersonissos and in particular the area that has been designated by acts of the Administration as the land zone of the port, but also the modernization of the port facilities (jetty, wharves, etc.) of the Port of Hersonissos . The basic choice of the study is the creation of three zones within the terrestrial zone. The zone of anticipation of the development of table seats by the adjacent businesses, the zone of shared use (walking, passage of emergency vehicles and catering vehicles) and, finally, the third zone of placing urban equipment and viewing.

The main objective of the study is to “liberate” the beach front, to ensure a comfortable pedestrian traffic along the entire length with an unobstructed view of the sea and, at the same time, the functional restoration of the shops

As shown by the positions of the researchers, the basic aim of the study is the “liberation” of the beach front, ensuring a comfortable pedestrian circulation along the entire length with an unobstructed view of the sea and, at the same time, the functional restoration of the shops, by moving the areas for the development of tables and chairs from the front face on the side of the buildings, as well as the highlighting of the archaeological structures.

Breakwater

In addition, the construction of a breakwater reef is planned to protect the port from siltation, while an important intervention of the study is the construction of a pier on piles. The mentioned wooden jetty will allow the docking of several boats, at the same time constituting a new walking route for pedestrians, who will now be able to approach the Roman pier.
