Olympic Games 2024: The Olympic Flame handover ceremony has been completed

A large number of citizens were present in Kallimarmaro today, to watch closely the great sporting and cultural event, the handing over of the Olympic Flame.

After 11 days in Greece, the Olympic Flame begins its journey to France and specifically for the city of Paris, where the Olympic Games will be held this year. The brilliant ceremony started at 18:30 on Friday afternoon, with Nikos Aliagas in the role of presenter and in an equally central role, Nana Mouschouri.

The Olympic Flame was brought to Kallimarmaros by the walking champion Antigoni Drisbiotis, with the last Torchbearer being the captain of the National polo team Yiannis Fundoulis and his teammates, who won the silver medal at the previous Olympic Games in Tokyo.

Nana Mouschouri, accompanied by the National Symphony Orchestra and Choir of ERT, performed the National Anthems of both Greece and France, with the National Symphony Orchestra and Choir of ERT also performing Dimitris Papadimitriou’s work “Pindar’s Olympian”. The anthem was performed by tenor Babis Velissarios. It is noted that the Olympic Anthem was performed by the vocal ensemble “CHORES” accompanied by the National Symphony Orchestra of ERT, with Marina Satti as the Artistic Director of the Choir and Michalis Oikonomou as the Musical Director.

Finally, the president of the Hellenic Olympic Committee, Spyros Kapralos, handed over the Olympic Flame to the president of the “PARIS 2024” Organizing Committee, Toni Estange, and so it continues on its way to Paris.
