“Privatized water of excellent quality for every rinse”

In a joint announcement of the fight group “Kissavos SOS” and the autonomous ecological action group of N. Larisa “Our land”, they state:

“The current Mitsotakis Government constantly proves that it is truly “excellent” in certain matters and that it does not leave anyone to their own devices.

Adamas with the criminal privatization of water in Thessaly through the “Establishment and operation of the Water Management Organization of Thessaly SA” in the context of the pending Bill entitled “Regulations for dealing with the multi-level effects of climate change in the sectors: a) water management, b ) the management and protection of forests, c) urban resilience and policy, d) the fight against arbitrary construction, e) energy security”, brings to the vote a sinful amendment which with a photographic provision gives forgiveness of sins, among others, to all those who caused the environmental disaster in previous years in a Natura 2000 protected area in Kissavos and even encourages them to expand at will their criminal activity by subsequently legalizing the infamous cable railway, which they have already illegally auctioned.

Some are defiantly unrepentant, and after their protectors managed to free them from their criminal court adventures, they are now fantasizing with new vigor and gusto about ski resorts in an area where, in recent years, snow seems to be a species on the verge of extinction.

But in the face of the inhumane act of privatizing water and the attempted cover-up of the crime of Tempe, all the rest looks like mere guilt.

Unfortunately, some people want us to be apathetic spectators in the same project, but it is now time to say a big NO, primarily to the cover-up of crimes and the usurpation of public common goods, but also to the laundering of any other illegality.

Extension of operation of activities – Amendment of par. 8 of article 52 of Law 4280/2014

The deadline of the first paragraph of par. 8 of article 52 of Law 4280/2014 (A’ 159), on approvals of forestry legislation, is extended, in the same paragraph the word “existing” is added to the independent mechanical installations, and par. 8 is formulated as follows:

“8. Ski resorts, existing facilities that serve the operation of ski resorts, as well as existing independent mechanical facilities with wire ropes, such as suspended or rope-driven cable railways and similar means, located on lands managed by the forest service and not having the approval prescribed by the forestry legislation, even if they do not operate, they receive by December 31, 2025, the approval of par. 2 or the act of par. 6 of article 45 of Law 998/1979. The first paragraph also applies to the lands of category a’ of paragraph 1 of article 4 of Law 998/1979, subject to paragraph 15 of Article 45 of Law 998/1979. The expansion of the ski centers and the facilities described in the first paragraph hereof is also permitted in the above areas, as long as the conditions of article 45 of Law 998/1979 (A’ 289) are met. During the above period, the validity of the administrative acts of expulsion, imposition of fines, demolition and declaration of the areas as reforestable, which have been issued before the approval prescribed by the forestry legislation, is suspended. As soon as the approval prescribed by the forestry service is issued, or act of par. 6 of article 45 of Law 998/1979, the acts cease to be valid.”
