The event of the North Aegean Region for the promotion of its islands was held with unprecedented success on Wednesday, April 24 at the Hellenic Center in London with the presence of over 300 selected British and Greek guests from the Academic Business and Maritime community with the presence of the Archbishop of Thyateira and of Great Britain Mr. Nikitas, our ambassador to the UK Ioannis Tsaousis and the High Commissioner of the Republic of Cyprus Mr. Kyriakos Kouros.

The event was presented by the communication specialist Adriani Maneta.

The host addressed a greeting Regional Governor of the North Aegean Kostas Moutzouris, the Archbishop, the Ambassadors and also the Lord of St. Andrews, chancellor of the University of Bolton.

The topics of the speeches are the two cultural events of the summer of PBA, the International Festival of Sapphos Lesvos which will take place June 20-22 and the Chios Festival 28/8 to 5/9 in Chios.

The historian Michalis Moschos presented the events of the Chios Festival and introduced the author Victoria Hislop who then spoke about her love for the Greek islands, a source of inspiration for her books.

At the Chios Festival, which will again be held under the auspices of the British Embassy, ​​they will speak Tim Witmarsh, regius professor of the Greek language at Cambridge University, Professor Giorgos Babiniotis, Professor and Director of the Acropolis Museum Nikos Stambolidis, writer Victoria Hislop, historian and BBC producer Bettany Hughes, archaeologist Thodoris Papakostas and Academician Christos Zerefos with an introductory greeting from the President of the Academy of Athens, Mr. Stamatis Krimizis.

Mimi Denisis, Ambassador of the North Aegean who will talk about her documentary “The woman behind Elgin” will also participate in the Festival, as well as Eva Nathena and the composers and musicians Giorgos Hatzinassios and Giorgos Lemos as well as Eleftheria Arvanitaki and Eleonora Zouganelis.

Then she spoke Eva Nathena presenting the latest award-winning work of “Fonissa” that will be shown in Chios as part of the Festival, after a very interesting discussion with academic professors of the Papadiamantis Foundation.
