The students Angelakis Giorgos, Vasilikogiannakis Petros and Manioudakis Vasilios, of the Prototype GEL Heraklion of Crete won the 1st place in the Social Entrepreneurship Hackathon competition.

Students participated in the proceedings of the 10th Science & Technology Student Conference, Anatolia College
Science and Technology Annual Conference (ACSTAC), held on 19-20 April 2024.

The group of students participated in the Social Entrepreneurship Hackathon with their work entitled “AQUA RECLAIM” which in the first phase of the competition was distinguished as one of the seven best works and in the second phase in which it was presented to a panel of judges it won the 1st prize as well as Cash Prizes.

The subject of the work was the construction of a water management system for use on site
school processing – quality control using sensors and reuse in the school garden.

The students prepared the work in the context of the STEM Natural Sciences group with the supervising teacher Mrs. Eleni Korakaki.

ACSTAC is an educational simulation of a scientific conference that aims to promote Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STE(A)M) and their combinations with the Arts, so that children develop inquiry skills, critical thinking, collaboration and communication. The central axis of the 10th ACSTAC was the connection of STEM with social responsibility and the 17 Global Sustainable Development Goals.

This year’s conference was attended by 550 students from 40 public and private high schools and high schools in Greece (Thessaloniki, Athens, Mytilini, Kos, Crete, Boeotia, etc.) who presented their work as real researchers, developing skills research, critical thinking, collaboration and communication, and giving substance to ideas that combine scientific knowledge and social benefit.
