“The declaration of Hieronymos is being used as a pre-election tool by the ND and Kyriakos Mitsotakis” replies Kyriakos Velopoulos after the resounding message of the Archbishop.
“For the Greek Solution, the Church is the whole of the people, the Clergy and the Hierarchy. The Archbishop’s statement therefore finds us in complete agreement: No politician can give instructions to either the clergy or the hierarchy”, emphasizes Kyriakos Velopoulos in a statement – response to Hieronymos.
And he adds: “Just as the hierarchy should not lead the faithful to specific political spaces. Unfortunately, however, the Archbishop’s statement is being used as a pre-election tool by the ND and K. Mitsotakis himself.”
It is recalled that earlier a resounding message about the indirect exhortations of Kyriakos Velopoulos regarding disapproval of politicians at Easter was sent by Archbishop Hieronymos from Delesi, where together with Kyriakos Mitsotakis, they visited Church structures.

“We will not do what Velopoulos or any other politician will tell us,” he said and emphasized that “we have firm lines, we will not do what Kyriakos Velopoulos or any other politician will tell us, we respect people.”
“I can’t go into things that the Gospel doesn’t say and he can have his opinions, I can’t identify with personal interests,” he added.
In fact, to a journalist’s question about whether there is a “christianometer”, Mr. Hieronymos answered, “no, never. Only love, forgiveness, fellowship and cooperation.”
“Our church calls everyone to love one another and respect one another. Everyone is fighting alone and with others”, Archbishop Hieronymos also noted.
And he added: “There is the word of God, the church says “I do not discriminate”, we must understand that there is a difference in dealing with the issues, the politician sees them differently and the believer sees them differently”.
“In these times, cooperation is necessary. We are looking at how we can move forward. It is time to think seriously. Our country needs partners and cooperation,” he said.
