As we enter the festive period of Easter, the events of the Municipality of Tripoli begin…

The first events of the Municipality of Tripoli begin next weekend as we “officially” enter the Easter season.

We invite you to the performance of “Requiem” by the French composer Gabriel Urbain Fauré (1845-1924), presented by the Orpheus Choir of Tripoli, with the support of the Municipality of Tripoli and the Peloponnese Region, on the Saturday of Lazarus, April 27 at 8 pm, in the Metropolitan Church of Agios Basilios of Tripoli. The work belongs to the late romantic era and is characterized by its melodiousness and calm overwhelming character, and the solo parts are performed by soprano Jelena Yovanovits Bakopoulou and baritone Vassilis Denachis Kostopoulos.

The lyrics of the hymn are narrated by Vassilis Georgaras. The choir is accompanied by a small orchestra consisting of Giorgos Michalopoulos on organ, Thodoris Paltoglou on violin and viola, and Fotini Alexopoulou on cello. Music teaching & direction Christina Athanasopoulou.

characteristically mentions the relevant press release of the Municipality of Tripoli for the event of the Saturday of Lazarus, while for the Sunday of Plagues the Holy Church of Agios Vasilios will host the liturgies of Greek composers.

On Palm Sunday, April 28, 2024 at 12:00 noon, in the Holy Church of Agios Vassiliou in Tripoli, musical works from the Liturgies of the Greek Composers Augustinou Roussou, Giannis Roussou, Georgiou Poniridis and Giannis Drositis will be presented. The works will be performed by the high-voiced Georgia Balabini and the church organ by Magdalini Kalopana. The event is under the auspices of the Municipality of Tripoli
