On Thursday, April 25, the members of the former European Parliament gathered for the last Plenary session before the June elections.
This means that the term of office of all 21 MEPs, who represented Greece in Strasbourg, ended yesterday. After this year’s elections on June 9, our country will send again 21 MPs, who will take a seat in the seats of the European Parliament.
In order to determine who the MEPs will be, Greek citizens who have the right to exercise the right to vote, can express their preference by voting with a cross of preference, up to four candidates, who belong to political parties (or coalitions of parties). It is noted that in order for a political party (or coalition of parties) to be represented by at least one MEP, it must “catch” its limit 3%.
In the European elections of 2019, and based on the initial composition, Greece was represented by 8 MPs from the ND, 6 from SYRIZA-PS, PASOK, KKE and Golden Dawn elected 2 MPs (each party) and 1 MP from Hellenic Solution.
In about 6 weeks from today, it will be known how the new seats will be shared.
