Letter from the Municipality of Tripoli to ELGA regarding the phenomenon of “failure” in apple crops, specifically the P.O.P. variety. Delicious Pilaf.

Dear Mr. President EL.GA,

In the last few days, there has been a strong concern from producers of the Municipality of Tripoli that the phenomenon of “fruitlessness” in apple crops, specifically of the P.O.P. variety, is strongly present. Delicious Pilaf.

The phenomenon of “fruitlessness” is probably due to the temperature fluctuations which played a decisive role during the flowering period as well as the lack of rainfall.

A product that is widely cultivated in our municipality and is a pillar of the development of our local economy.

According to the above we ask you:

  • Like steps of EL.GA. make comments in order to establish whether the phenomenon of “unfruitfulness” has affected the income of the producers and to provide a solution to replace the lost income of the producers.
  • As the regulation of EL.GA is amended. so as to include as a result of the climate change that our region is experiencing the possibility of .
