At the “Technochoros” gallery in Ioannina, there will be the solo exhibition of the great painter Costa Diu entitled “Retrospection”, which opens on Saturday, April 27 and will last until May 25. Every visitor will have the opportunity to be led to realism and impressionism through the color bursts and the symbols of existential reflection that the painter uses in his works.

On the occasion of the interview that Mr. Kostas Dios gave to Mr. Panagiotis Tsartsianidis (www.kozani.tv) regarding the present exhibition, we all understand and know the rich artistic work and also the important course of the artist. Studies in France, individual exhibitions in Greece and abroad, works that dominate permanent museum collections (See: Thessaloniki Museum of Contemporary Art) kok.

However, Mr. Dios stated with displeasure that his individual exhibitions attract the interest of cultural organizations of other cities, the same is not the case with corresponding organizations of Kozani, where he comes from. Although the choices of exhibition spaces are limited and those available struggle to structurally support the exhibitions.

In particular, the artist expressed his concern regarding the construction of the exhibition hall of the Coventario Municipal Library, which, as other artists have mentioned, lacks architectural design weaknesses to accommodate works of art. It is worth noting at this point that the Koventareios Municipal Library is one of the largest libraries in Greece, with a rich archival and printed stock, which was financed through NSRF/PEP of Western Macedonia 2007-2013, 2014-2020 with a total approved budget of 15 millions.

Reasonably, then, questions arise regarding the above data:

o Why are there architectural failures to this day and have they not been resolved?
o What actions has the Vice-Mayor of Culture – Sports & Library Convention implemented to ensure the restoration of the hall?
Undeniably, the role of cultural units is to protect and disseminate cultural assets, let alone highlight and house local cultural heritage. Both the artists and the contributors of the “art world” e.g. art collectors, curators, art historians, etc., contribute to our cultural heritage and the identity of the place. As, our cultural heritage is not only about the past stocks but also the modern ones.

In conclusion, leaving local artists and contributors to seek other places and ways to display their work does us no honor as cultural professionals and citizens. The responsibility, however, falls on the Municipality, which as a competent body must listen to the issues of the citizens and explore ways of solving them.

Especially in matters of culture and tourism that reflect the identity of the local society and are related to high culture.
