After his meeting with the governor of Central Macedonia, Apostolos Tzitzikostas in his office in western Thessaloniki, the minister referred to France’s verbal request to send crotale ahead of the Olympic Games and stressed:
“If France makes the request in writing, our country will consent. Alas if we, the country that has signed a defense agreement with the French republic, does not help in the Olympic games, which represent what is most Greek in this world”.
“We will send neither Patriot nor S300 to Ukraine”
Mr. Dendias clarified that the ministry will not send to Ukraine the weapons necessary for the defense of Greece. “Patriots will not be transferred, S300s will not be transferred, the country is not going to be deprived of what is necessary for its defense and the protection of the key interests of our country”, he said and added that he always remains at the disposal of the parliament and the parties for anything they need.
“Crew on frigate Hydra gain invaluable experience”
Regarding the recent operation by the crew of the Hydra frigate to destroy two Houthi drones, the minister noted that “there was an extremely successful operation to stop an attack on a merchant ship. We know that our personnel are operating in a danger zone, they need the absolute support of Greek society, but also – let’s not kid ourselves about this – the crew gains invaluable experience in real conditions as well as in patriot elements that we have in the wider region”.
