At every opportunity, Nikos Aliagas “flies” to Greece. He could not miss the lighting ceremony of the Olympic Flame and the handover ceremony in his second country, France, ahead of the Olympic Games in Paris this summer.

Nikos Aliagas was the one who presented the lighting ceremony of the Flame, in Ancient Olympia, and on Friday (26.04.2024) he spoke to the camera of the program Proino SuSou about his emotion every time he returns to Greece.

“It is very moving that we are in Kallimarmaro, where the Olympic Games have started,” Nikos Aliagas said initially.

“I’m always moved when I return to Greece, because I don’t know, it has a light, it has an energy, so many elements that I carry inside me, in my soul, I’m always moved when peoples unite”, he added.

When asked if he will return permanently to Greece, he said that the condition for this is that… he is gone! But when he retires, he may come more!

“In order to return to Greece, there is a condition that I have left Greece.

I never left Greece, I carry it inside me like a compass. This back-and-forth between France and Greece that I have, fills me inside.

I would like a little more Greece but I have obligations. I don’t know, maybe in my retirement.”
