Almost all of its graduates are employed. This is another one of his achievements National Technical University of Athenswhich confirms its high position at the academic and research level, not only in Greece – where it holds the first place – but also internationally.

In particular, according to research which took place between May and June 2023 (in a sample of 1,307 NTUA graduates, 10.5% of all graduates of the period), only 2% are unemployed. The element demonstrates the significant improvement in the employment prospects of NTUA graduates and the “rebirth” of labor market of engineers. In particular, from the answers of NTUA graduates, the following emerges, among others:

• The institution is among the first choices of the candidates for the Panhellenic Examinations, an element which documents the attractiveness of the studies it offers.

• Almost 60% of the graduates of the National Technical University worked alongside their studies.

• However, an element that raises questions is that the average duration of study is 6.9 years, i.e. by almost two years longer than the 5 years which is the typical duration of studies at NTUA schools.

• 9.4% of the diploma holders in the sample live and work abroad.

• 52% continue their studies to obtain a master’s degree and 16.8% to obtain a doctorate.

• NTUA graduates find their first job within just four months after graduation, which confirms their extremely fast absorption by the labor market.

• NTUA graduates, after the effects of the Greek “debt crisis” subsided, are looking for stability through salaried work. The increase in employed NTUA graduates follows the general trend in the economy as a whole.

• “Necessity entrepreneurship”, which was a business outlet during the early phase of the “debt crisis”, is limited. For NTUA engineering businesses, limited business funding and the issue of competition are critical challenges for the next period.

• The construction industry, despite the pressure it has received, in terms of number of companies, turnover and number of employees, continues to be the pre-eminent “gateway” for engineers in the labor market.

• According to the research, unfortunately the prejudice against female engineers seems to be intensifying, highlighting the steps that should be taken at the level of social responsibility on the part of companies.
