An autopsy was carried out last night by the Regional Governor of Attica, Nikos Hardalias, on road construction projects being carried out in the Municipality of Penteli, as part of the Region’s initiatives to upgrade the road network under its jurisdiction.

As Mr. Hardalias said, more than 233 million euros are available for a total of 58 major projects implemented by the Region of Attica in a road network that reaches 1,569 kilometers and covers the central road arteries of the Basin. As part of the projects, extensive asphalt paving, installation of electric lighting and safety parapets, markings and markings, light signaling, cleaning of side wells and maintenance of islets throughout Attica are carried out.

Hardalias: We are moving forward with over 58 projects over the next 5 years

“Road safety is a central bet for the administration of the Region and in this direction we are investing significant resources to upgrade the central road arteries throughout the Basin” characteristically noted the Regional Governor of Attica. He added: “We are tonight at a point which, despite serving thousands of drivers every day, has not had the slightest intervention for some 25 years. We have a coherent plan. We are moving forward with more than 58 projects over the next five years that address all issues, with an emphasis on high-risk areas. Not only with asphalt pavements, but also with islands, junctions, smart crossings, change in traffic lights, placement of parapets, everything that is required for a better, modern, functional and – above all – safe road network. I thank the services of the Region, I thank the Mayor of Penteli, the Vice-Regional Governor of the Northern Sector and all those who work hard, every day, morning and night, so that we can bring results to every neighborhood of our Attica”.

Mr. Hardalias also referred to the need for “metropolitan traffic management in Attica, in cooperation with the state and the Municipalities”, in order to provide a definitive, sustainable solution to this major issue and to drastically reduce the risk: “On the roads of Attica only safety has a place, not blood”, he pointed out. And he underlined: “The Region of Attica, through an integrated plan that is systematically implemented by its competent services, is launching a comprehensive plan – with very clear pillars – with the aim of sustainable and safe movement for everyone, throughout Attica”.

For her part, the Mayor of Penteli, Natassa Kosmopoulou, said: “We thank the Regional Governor of Attica very much, because he is dealing with the essence. And the bottom line is the roads. I thank him once again warmly, on behalf of all the residents of the area”.

It is noted that the said intervention is carried out in one of the busiest traffic points of the Municipality (L. Pentelis, Afroditis, Anapausesos, Al. Panagoulis and N. Pentelis Square) and includes replacement of the aging road surface, installation of anti-slip asphalt and new markings.

The projects are part of a wider budget program of 6 million euros for road construction actions in municipalities mainly in the Northern Sector, in sections of the central road network with a total length of approximately 20 kilometers and an area of 180,000 square meters. meters. The largest part of the financing of the road construction projects – 133 million euros – comes from the National P.D.E. (PPA), the 58 million euros from the Attica Region’s own resources, 37 million euros from the NSRF and 5.5 million euros from the Recovery Fund.

At the autopsy in the Municipality of Penteli, the Regional Governor of Attica was accompanied by, among others: the Deputy Regional Governor of the Northern Sector Loukia Kefalogianni, the Mayor of Penteli Natassa Kosmopoulou, the Special Secretary of the Attica Region Elena Rapti, the Head of the Road Construction Department of the Attica Region Vangelis Bakoyorgos, representatives of the technicians services of the Region of Attica, as well as the contractor of the project.
