“My statement was falsified”, says Velopoulos now, after the “emptying” of the Archbishop from Delesi

The president of the Hellenic Solution, Kyriakos Velopoulos, responds to the statements of Archbishop Hieronymos from Delesi with his announcement.

As stated, among other things, by Mr. Velopoulos, his statement a few days ago, which the Archbishop commented on this morning, is falsified.

It is recalled that the day before yesterday an uproar broke out in the Parliament with the admonitions of Kyriakos Velopoulos to ND MPs who voted in favor of the bill for the marriage of same-sex couples to avoid churches during Holy Week, so as not to give “handhold to extreme circles”.

The Archbishop’s report to Kyriakos Velopoulos

“We have our fixed lines and our fixed lines are the Gospel, the word of God, the positions of the Church. Beyond these positions we cannot move. Therefore, we do not do what Mr. Velopoulos will tell us, nor what any politician will tell us. We respect the opinions, we measure them and we do what God says: we love all people”, said earlier the Archbishop of Athens and All Greece Hieronymos from Delesi Boeotia, where together with the Prime Minister they visited structures of the Holy Archdiocese of Athens.

Velopoulos’ answer: My statement was falsified

Shortly after the above statements of the Archbishop, the press office of the Hellenic Solution issued a statement in which Mr. Velopoulos stated that his statement to which Mr. Ieronymos referred is falsified and “is being used as a pre-election tool by the ND and K. Mitsotakis”.

“For the Greek Solution, the Church is the whole of the people, the Clergy and the Hierarchy. So the Archbishop’s statement finds us in complete agreement: No politician can give instructions to the clergy or the hierarchy. Just as the hierarchy should not lead the faithful to specific political spaces. Unfortunately, however, the Archbishop’s statement is being used as a pre-election tool by the ND and K. Mitsotakis himself.”
