A new photovoltaic station, with an installed capacity of 80 MW, in the “Akrin” location of the Kozani Regional Unit, in exhausted lignite mines of ΔEH, is added to the organic growth of PPC Renewables’ RES portfolio.

The works for the new photovoltaic station “Akrini” have already started and in its construction, high efficiency bifacial photovoltaic panels will be used, on a stable support system. Given the rich solar potential of the area, the estimated annual output of the station is estimated to reach 127 GWh per year. With its operation, the new station is expected to prevent CO 2 emissions of the order of 73,500 tons annually.

PPC Renewables is currently building new RES projects in Ptolemaida with a total capacity of 800MW. These include, in addition to the “Akrine” project, the iconic photovoltaic project “PTC Ptolemaida Mine” with a capacity of 550MW, which is one of the largest photovoltaic projects in Europe. With their completion, the total installed RES capacity (excluding large hydroelectric plants) of the PPC Group will reach 2,300MW.

PPC Group is creating the foundations to lead the energy transformation in the country. Today, with a total installed capacity of more than 1,500 MW (excluding large hydroelectric plants) and its ambitious investment plan, it has positioned itself dynamically in the area of RES.

PPC Renewables, a 100% subsidiary of PPC, invests in the power of nature with the aim of promoting green electricity generation and energy storage projects. PPC Renewables, in addition to the large photovoltaic and wind farms it builds, innovates in Greece with its activity in all forms of RES, wind, solar, hydroelectric, geothermal and biomass – biogas.
