DIPETHE Patras: Giorgos Roufas has submitted his candidacy and speaks to pelop.gr

“DIPETHE Patras is an organization that is of great importance, historical value and I am putting forward a plan for the coming years on how it will have even greater social intervention in the local community, but also the wider region and why not at a pan-Hellenic level”.

This is what Giorgos Roufas notes, speaking to pelop.gr, who today submitted his candidacy for the position of Artistic Director of DIPETHE Patras, something he had already done two years ago, when Loukas Thanos was finally chosen for the position.

Known through his appearances on the small and big screen and with a long career on the stage, Giorgos Roufas spoke to pelop.gr about his design regarding the DIPETHE Patras: “What interests me mainly in design is how any interventions will create a new audience in the wider region which will develop critical thinking, be educated and become a social ambassador against the social phenomena that concern us. Unfortunately, every day we see extreme phenomena of violence, femicide, bullying, online bullying, etc. I believe that the theater with targeted and planned educational themes of its performances can project new standards, new trends and new models of social education, values ​​and democracy. I am mainly concerned with how educationally and theatrically we will be able to combine as many performing arts as possible under the umbrella of DIPETHE Patras. I want to emphasize how important the performing arts are and combining them under the umbrella of theater is my goal if given the opportunity. ».

Giorgos Roufas designs and implements educational programs, is a Certified animator from the National Theater of Greece, teaches at the Kapodistrian University, and from September his new collaboration with the Democritus University will begin. This year we see him in “Julia’s Consulate”, with the filming being completed in May, while soon on the big screens we will see him alongside Alexandros Tsouvelas, in the film “Symmoria tis Symfora” directed by Makis Papageorgiou.

But one of Giorgos Roufa’s great loves is the theater, while this is the second time in a row that he is applying for this position. “I believe that there are things that have not been done at a pan-Hellenic level, that have not been highlighted. Giorgos Roufas actor-writer-director, graduated from the higher drama school “EMBROS” in 2000, has been active in the field of theater and cinema since 1999. He has taken directing and acting courses with Robert Stouroua, Theodoros Terzopoulos, Aveza Papadopoulou , Dimitris Kataleifos, Amalia Moutousi. He has directed at the State Theater of Northern Greece, the DIPETHE of Patras, the Municipal Theater of Piraeus and the Free Theater, he has been involved in production management, directing and writing plays for teenagers. He has starred in classic and contemporary works of world drama. She teaches acting and improvisation with objects. He has taken lessons in percussion, Byzantine music and orthophony. He was a Panhellenic boxing champion (Children and Adolescents). He also studied at the “Administrative Finance” school in Patras.
