The MP of New Democracy, Yannis Kallianos, is choosing the legal route for the health adventure of his father, Dimitris, who lost the battle for his life yesterday at the “Attikon” hospital where he had been hospitalized since April 6. The case of the patient and the straight shots by the MP against the medical staff of the hospital have been in the center of the news in the last 24 hours.

The persistence of his family Dimitris Kallianou for introduction of to Intensive Care Unitwhich was not satisfied until he suffered a cardiac arrest and entered the ICU on April 23, is the reason for successive statements, announcements and explanations from the family, the hospital administration and the Minister of Health.

Dimitris Kallianos, having many co-morbidities, ended up yesterday, 25/4, while being hospitalized in ICU. In the wake of the multiple accusations by Giannis Kallianos, and his repeated claims that the doctors assured his sons for days that the patient “is fine”, while they saw the opposite, the administration of the nursing institution ordered the conduct of a Sworn Administrative Examination for The incident.

“Following yesterday’s press release of the P.G.N. “ATTIKON” announces today 25/4/2024 the death of Dimitrios Kallianos and we express our deepest condolences to his family. In order to investigate all the hospitalization conditions of the incident from the day of his admission until today, the Administration of the P.G.N. “ATTIKON” ordered the conduct of a Sworn Administrative Examination”, said the hospital’s announcement yesterday.

The well-known meteorologist, after saying goodbye to his father yesterday with an emotional post on social media, gave an interview (Mega), making it known that he will seek legal redress.

“It was not the problem of the Health system. The problem was that three specific people said that my father is fine and does not need to go to the ICU or the ICU. If they had listened to my brother, right now my father would be here by the car and we would be going for a regular walk,” he noted, adding:

“I have all the messages in my hands, the audio ones. All this will be submitted to Mr. Kuya who will take over the case so that the people who took my father’s life will be brought to justice. I will move hard legally, aggressively legally… “Attikon” now said that he had many problems (the patient). Then why were they telling us that his exams are great?”, he wondered.

Further tension was sparked by the statements of Yiannis Kallianos’ brother, Christos Kallianos. “There is no public health system, everything has been destroyed. And if the minister or the prime minister preaches something else, let them come and tell me. I challenge them with the knowledge and morals I have”, he said in his statements (Alpha).

He claimed that the intubation was done for “shows” and pointed out that he never asked for his father’s placement in the Intensive Care Unit, but in the Advanced Care Unit. “The professor did not decide to put him on the platform of the unit, to give us this hope. I didn’t want my father to go on the platform and a 20 year old to die. I never asked for ICU, I asked for ICU. Intensive Care Unit, that is, in some hospital they have. They kept drying him up with blood cleans,” he said.

At the same time, Christos Kallianos accuses the nursing institution of misinformation, as in the previous and first announcement of “Attikon” it was mentioned that, among other things, the patient also suffered from cancer of the genital organs. “There is a felony in the middle. My dad did not have cancer of the genital organs, whoever wrote the statement is not a doctor, these came out as an over-defense of the administration”, noted the brother of the well-known meteorologist.

For his part, the Minister of Health, Adonis Georgiadis, also gave explanations yesterday, up to the point where he knows the details, as medical confidentiality applies. “My impression is that all protocols have been followed,” (Mega) reiterated. Earlier, speaking to Sky, he explained: “For a patient to get an ICU bed there is a process that has nothing to do with a minister. The attending physician must register it on the platform and from there the system will determine which is the nearest ICU. Why didn’t the father of Yannis Kallianos go to ICU? It is not enough for the doctor to say it, which he did not say in this case, but for there to be some transparent criteria that exist to ensure equality. No. 1 is to be intubated, and Yannis Kallianos’ father was not intubated. We don’t put non-intubated people in the ICU.”

Mr. Georgiadis had already pointed out on Wednesday, a few hours after the publication of the video of Yannis Kallianos, that the process of entering a patient into an ICU is transparent, according to strict scientific criteria and that the decisions are made by the doctors.

For the record, Mr Dimitris Kallianos he was admitted on April 6th to “Attikon” hospital after first being assessed at the Asklepiion of Voula for severe complications from diabetes. The doctors at the first nursing institution decided that he should be treated in a vascular surgery clinic and so he was transferred to the “Atticon” where the doctors found gangrene of the end of the left leg. The patient underwent surgical treatment of the gangrene, while his complex pre-existing problems were evaluated and treated intensively during his hospitalization by all involved specialties (cardiologists, pulmonologists, nephrologists, infectious disease specialists). On 4/23 he had a convulsive episode, was intubated and transferred to the ICU.
