I. Ambatzoglou: the anti-Hellenic role of Germany and the USA in the issue of Macedonia and the Ellinika Hoaxes

The handing over of Macedonianness to the Skopians, which took place through the Prespa Agreement, will be the cause of future rivers of Greek blood being spilled, since at some point the Greekness of Macedonia, which is within the current Greek borders, will also be questioned in practice.

Of course, in the Prespa Agreement, among other things, it is mentioned that the terms “Macedonia” and “Macedonia” have a different meaning for Greece and another for Skopje – in terms of the characteristics of each region and each people – and indeed that these characteristics are between them “distinctly different” (Prespa Agreement, Article 7). Indeed, the above refers to the specific agreement, but the first big step of the concession was made. Macedonianness was surrendered even in another sense.

What will be the next step? The obvious, the questioning of the Greekness of Macedonia in general, which as we will see below has been happening for some time. This will be supported anew and tried to be imposed by the forces that supported and imposed the Prespa Agreement anyway. These are Germany and the USA. These countries have not hidden their true intentions. Regarding the suspicious but also decisive role they played in the issue of Macedonia in general, reference was made in previous articles^{1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8}. Here, two cases will be presented again, in which the above states made use of maps of “Macedonia” directly questioning its Greekness.

Germany: Before and after the signing of the Prespa Agreement, the German state broadcaster Deutsche Welle⁹ the map of “Modern Macedonia” (Modern Macedonia) was released, which includes, among other things, the territories of Macedonia located in Greece^5,10,11,12.

USA: The US Department of Defense reportedly provides US soldiers with the booklet A field–Ready Reference Publication, November 1999 DOD-2630-MK-00 MACEDONIA – The Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM)in which on page 22, Greek Macedonia is characterized as “Occupied Macedonian Territory”since the areas shown on the map – and which include Greek Macedonia – are referred to as “Occupied Macedonian Territories”, i.e. “Occupied Macedonian Territories”^13,14. Let our main ally, the USA, explain to us who these “Occupied Territories” belong to, which includes even Halkidiki. Maybe to the people of Skopje? And why are they informing their soldiers about this? Do they intend to release them and return them to the one they think they belong to?

A map allegedly provided to US soldiers by the US Department of Defense lists Greek Macedonia as “Occupied Macedonian Territory”^13,14.

In other words, we see that these two great powers, which are also our main allies (Germany and the USA), openly and systematically promote the idea of ​​a supposed Macedonia, non-Greek, which in order to exist, territories would have to be taken from Greece.

However, regarding one of the above two maps, specifically that of “Modern Macedonia” published by the German Deutsche Welle, there were many reprints and strong reactions from Greek websites, which highlighted the suspicious role of Germany. These reposts were taken up by Ellinika Hoaxes, a website that deals with internet posts and publications investigating whether they are true.

The article with this research was posted eight days after the signing of the Prespa Agreement, on 6-25-2018, on the Ellinika Hoaxes website and is signed by Mr. Thanos Sitistas.

In the article¹⁵ this, titled “Germany is preparing a “unification” of Macedonia according to a state map DW?”Mr. Sitistas begins with the following question: “It is true that German maps Deutsche Well do they portray a “pseudo-Macedonian” nation, Berlin’s longing for a satellite state in the central Balkans, while at the same time nationally crippling Greece?” and he himself answers as follows: “False Claim – Clickbait».

So after first telling us that the claim of the Greek websites that republished the Deutsche Welle map is false, he then cites these Greek websites and admits that the maps they used “were first released from its English edition Deutsche Well (dw.com) on 04.02.2018 and 27.02.2018¹⁶. They were republished on 12.06.2018¹⁷on the occasion of the signing of the agreement on the watchdog”.

He continues with the following observation:

“According to the caption of the image, which the Greek publications concealed, the map depicts the geographical modern Macedonia which includes, in addition to Greece and Macedonia, areas of Albania, Bulgaria, Serbia and Kosovo and not “a “pseudo-Macedonian” nation of Berlin’s longing”, as the non-existent reports claim”.

And it reveals to us the caption of the map used by Deutsche Welle, which the Greek websites supposedly deliberately withheld. The caption is below:

“SHAPE-SHIFTING MACEDONIA. Present day. As well as Greece and the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, the geographic region of Macedonia extends into Albania, Bulgaria and Serbia as well as small areas of Kosovo (which you can’t quite see here)”

that is,

THE CHANGE OF THE SHAPE OF MACEDONIA. Today’s era. Apart from Greece and the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, the geographical area of ​​Macedonia it spans Albania, Bulgaria and Serbia as well as small areas of Kosovo (which you can’t see here).

The caption of the map refers to the geographic region of Macedonia, as does the title at the top of the map (geographic region).

And Mr. Sitista’s article concludes as follows:

“As in the latest articles, as well as in the older ones, there is no active link to the source of the photos (dw.com), nor the clarifying caption that explains how the geographical Macedonia and not some dark Berlin plan to create a Macedonian state that would include Greek lands.

Based on the above, the claim that “Germany is preparing a “unification” of Macedonia according to a map of the state DW“, is shot down”.

Mr. Sitistas essentially admits that this map was published by Deutsche Welle, he simply says that the Greek websites that republished it did not provide an active link to the original Deutsche Welle publication and also hid the map’s caption.

The non-existence of the active links, since he himself admits that the specific map existed, is something of no particular importance. The bottom line is that Deutsche Welle published this map.

Now let’s go to “hide” the map caption.

According to Mr. Sitista, the caption of the map and by extension the phrase was hidden from the Greek websites “geographical region of Macedonia» (geographical region of Macedonia) contained in it and which Mr. Sitistas considers to be of pivotal importance. But on the map published by the Greek websites, the phrase is mentioned – in its upper part as a title “Modern Macedonia: Geographic region» (Modern Macedonia: Geographic area), so it is understood by the reader that the map depicts the geographical area of ​​Macedonia. Both the caption and the map with the title on top of it refer to the geographical area of ​​Macedonia. Therefore, whether the caption is present or not, the conclusion drawn is exactly the same.

In conclusion, the posts of the Greek websites that republished the Deutsche Welle map were not false. The publication of Ellinika Hoaxes was cunning with the obvious aim of reassuring the Greek people so that they would not be alarmed by the publications of the Germans which actually present an alleged non-Greek Macedonia that extends to the Aegean.

The fact is that some want us to forget the truth. And the truth is that the Macedonian land from ancient times was Greek because Macedonians of Greek origin gave their name to it. Indeed, Macedonia received its name from the Macedonians and not the other way around. That the ancient Macedonians were Greeks is proven not only by Greek tradition but also by science. Why ignore these truths? Because they want some major powers to serve their geostrategic interests?

The saying of Pericles Yiannopoulos fits this point “Shame on you for discussing with Skylofragkos, if your Macedonian Land is Your Land”¹⁸. This particular phrase is found in his book Appeal to the Panhellenic Community which was published in 1907. How relevant is Pericles Yiannopoulos to this day. 117 years have passed since the publication of the above book and we continue to be led and treated by foreign powers, not only in the issue of Macedonia but also in our other national issues.

Political leadership in Greece is urgently required to stand up and set national red lines, not only to our allies but also to those who are plotting against us before it is too late.
