Maritime traffic in the Dardanelles Straits in Turkey expected to resume today from 21.01 GMT (00.01 Greek time on Friday), after being briefly interrupted by firefighting efforts fire in shipshipping service Tribeca announced.

The fire broke out in the engine room of the 107 meter long dry cargo ship named AK DISCOVERY while sailing from Egypt to Bulgaria. The captain of the ship, which had a crew of 14, reported the situation to the Dardanelles Vessel Traffic Services Center Directorate. While Coast Guard Rescue-13 and Rescue-3 tugs were dispatched to the area, vessel traffic in the Dardanelles was disrupted in both directions.

The fire was extinguished as a result of the work of the teams of the General Directorate of Coastal Safety. Traffic in Bosphorus re-opened for two-way crossing ships.
