The restrictive conditions in the Parliament for Floros are “head-scratching”.

--

The unprecedented incident of the beating of the Hellenic Solution MP has caused controversy. Vasilis Grammenou by the independent member of parliament, Konstantinos Florosnot only for the way the restrictive condition against the independent deputy will be observed but also for the tightening of the Rules of the House in the face of such phenomena, something that was not foreseen earlier.

The question of how it will be observed the restrictive condition imposed to Konstantinos Floros, to keep a distance of 50 meters from the Hellenic Solution MP within the Parliament, it seems that it will be a headache for him if he returns to his parliamentary duties. As explained by President of the Parliamentspeaking to parliamentary editors, how the independent MP will adhere to this restriction is up to him.

As explained by Mr. Tassoulas, the member of parliament himself should make sure to comply with this condition while wondering if this decision will possibly prolong the removal of Constantinos Floros from the Parliament. It is recalled that Konstantinos Floros has been excluded for 15 days from the Parliament while the parliamentary compensation has been reduced by half. It is emphasized that the 15 days do not refer to calendar time but days of parliamentary sessions. It is characteristic that in tomorrow’s vote concerning the bill of the Ministry of Environment, the independent MP will not have the opportunity to vote.

At the same time, Konstantinos Tasoulas, explained that the possibility of stiffening the penalties in such incidents is already being considered. As he said, these decisions are not made in the heat of the moment, but take the necessary time, and not be dictated by developments. For example, as he said, the penalty of the 15-day ban could possibly be two months and the cut of the parliamentary allowance could even reach 5 months.

It should be noted that at the moment there is no punishment in the Parliament’s Rules of Procedure for the possible beating of a member of parliament by his colleague. However, according to articles 77-81, disciplinary measures and temporary exclusion of MPs are foreseen when they violate the Parliament’s Rules of Procedure.

He was released on the condition that he not come within 50 meters of Grammenos after his plea

As is known, Konstantinos Floros who punched the MP yesterday at noon Basil Grammeno of the Greek Solution within the Parliament, after apology he was released with restrictive conditions.

Specifically, the condition was imposed on him not to come closer than 50 meters to Vassilis Grammenos.

In the statements he made upon his exit from the courts in Evelpidon, the former MP of the Spartans stated that: “At that moment as a son, and driven by emotion, I thought I had done the right thing. However, because I also carry a very important quality, that of a Greek member of parliament, I made an absolute mistake, this behavior is not appropriate in the premises of the parliament. It is not an example for a Greek parliamentarian.”

For her part, his advocate Konstantinos Floros he emphasized that “Criminal justice knows how to assess facts and get to the bottom of it. In a human way of approach, the lady investigator and the lady prosecutor pointed out to him that such behavior is not to be expected from a Greek member of parliament. He has understood from the first moment that such behavior does not befit a member of parliament”.
