“I heard a voice calling ‘man in the sea, man in the sea’.” I leave where I am and see the woman in the sea with the suitcases. I immediately dived into the sea and swam to where she was. I hear her telling me “my hands – my hands”, I pull the suitcases, I grab her by the waist so she doesn’t leave and I put my hands on the life jacket”, said Ioannis Kevrekidis, Coast Guard lieutenant.

It is recalled that a little before 5 pm on Wednesday (24/4), a coach with tourists from France traveling to Paros arrives at the port of Piraeus. The tourist slips trying to grab her suitcase and falls into the sea.

There the men of the Coast Guard, who are on every boat, managed with their quick reflexes to save her and offer her first aid. The French tourist is in good health and stated that she did not wish for further medical attention while boarding the ship bound for Paros.
