Normally, as it was, the operation of the Cemeteries of Larissa will take place on Sundays and holidays – that is, the burials will take place – after the relevant intervention of the Mayor of Larissa, Mr. Thanasis Mamakos, in the Municipal Council of Larissa.

In detail, the position of Mr. Mamakos is as follows:

Let me say two things:

There are issues that should not enter the mill of opposition expediency.

Not only because they can’t help with a rudimentary consultation, but also because they simply don’t have that character.

With death and loss, with the sadness and pain they cause, with the emotions of these difficult moments, one cannot play, nor make them confrontational.

Much more, when he gives dimensions to them, which have nothing to do with reality, or when he avoids reading or getting informed before taking the next step.

I do not recognize a monopoly of sensitivity in anyone.

Nor do I accept, as a human being, that shadows are created on subjects that touch our most delicate sensibilities.

I say this because it cannot, in a five-line announcement distract the attention of opposition colleagues, the… “and until further notice”.

This alone shows that it was not a final choice, but a forced temporary decision, in order to deal with problems that arose and to have the relevant planning.

We acted with a sense of responsibility towards our fellow citizens and with respect for the specificity of the moments. We did not want to add extra problems at the time of mourning and sorrow.

Problems exist and will exist in the near future, due to lack of staff, due to retirements, due to inability to recruit, due to mistakes that have been made.

But these can and must be solved. And they will be solved.

At the same time, we opened the dialogue with all those involved, in order to immediately provide answers to the problems and to plan the proper operation of the cemeteries, without obstacles.

I personally took responsibility for this and I can tell you that for the next period the operation of the cemeteries will continue as it was.

In the new operating regulation of the Cemeteries, which will come soon, after the conclusion of the dialogue, we will discuss in detail all the parameters of the matter.

I would recommend keeping calm and looking for other issues for virtual opposition”.
