In yesterday’s meeting of the Municipal Council, it was revealed once again that the municipal authority in the big and serious issues for the citizens, is unprepared, illiterate and tries to cover its weaknesses with “quicks”, with procedures “on the leg”, sketchy and hasty , bypassing the legality and institutional functioning of the Municipality and services. And this with the sole aim of issuing a polished press release with corresponding photos to show off that he implemented something supposedly original or that he brought order, ignoring the substance, democratic functioning and solving problems.

The Mayor and Deputy Mayor of the Old Town introduced a proposal to regulate the seating and merchandise for the days of Easter, holidays and events throughout the year and only for the Old Town, first to the Municipal Committee and then to the Municipal Council, without even a proposal from the competent service, something unheard of for such an issue, (which official would put his signature on something illegal after all) without a legal basis, baptizing “meat fish”, since there is no Regulation in force in our Municipality to rely on and to completed. As a result of this, the municipal authority’s proposal was completely legally void, baseless and arbitrary.

Furthermore, this proposal came without the consultation that democracy itself mandates on such a serious matter that affects everyone and life in our city, trade associations, residents, focus, opposition factions and other agencies and services that this so-called ‘regulatory setting’. And while in the committee that we were called urgently (at 11:00 the proposal came and at 12:30 we were called to vote) we, of course, requested that the issue be postponed due to the lack of consultation and the illegality of the whole process, something that was not accepted and thus aron also entered the Municipal Council, where of course he fell like a paper tower, after the sloppiness, illegality and circumvention of the procedure were revealed.

We could politicize, populize, torpedo the whole process, but instead, as a responsible opposition that honors its role and the trust of our fellow citizens, we acted as a coalition and gave a solution, with our proposal that they take back the “eola » suggestion and to decide on the implementation of temporary-pilot measures for the Easter days and then to look at the whole issue from the beginning with democratic consultation and following the procedures provided by the legislation in cooperation with the municipal and other involved services.

We, unfortunately, have not enjoyed such a productive opposition, only appeals, televised and non-television complaints, denial and artificial quorum shortages, i.e. obstruction of our work by current deputy mayors who are now falling into the trap and holes they themselves set before.

We therefore call on them to understand that they are now in charge and judged by themselves and must take their role and duty seriously and not oppose the opposition and themselves, because they will be left with the kusuri and the communication fanfare and from substance and work for the citizens, NONE!!
