Overwhelmingly in favor of its annexation E.K.P.A. the society takes sides in Cyprus. Almost 9 out of 10 Cypriots consider the establishment of a branch a positive step.
The picture of the research findings carried out by the company is absolutely clear ALCO, about the perceptions of Cypriot society in relation to the establishment of university branches from other countries, as well as in relation to its attitude towards the prospect of establishing a branch of National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and the image he has of the E.K.P.A.
In particular, the whole, almost, of Cypriot society (88%), considers that the creation of university branches in other countries has a positive effect, both on the level of studies in Cyprus and on the Cypriot economy. Also, almost universal (87%), is the percentage of those who are positive about the prospect of creating an annex Hellenic University in Cyprus.
The image of E.K.P.A. is impressively positive. and an almost universal (87%) positive response to the creation of its branch in Cyprus.
Very important is the fact that in E.K.P.A. not only the attribute of history / reputation is attributed (85%), but also those of the quality of studies (72%), the high prestige of the degree (76%) and, to a lesser but not small extent (61%), the prestige of the teaching of the staff.
Overall, the findings of the research reflect a particularly positive environment for the creation of an annex of the E.K.P.A. in Cyprus. An environment shaped on the one hand by the universal positive perception of the operation of university branches in other countries – a perception that is also based on the experiences of Cypriots – and on the other hand by the excellent image of EKPA itself.
This social environment constitutes a particularly positive support base for E.K.P.A. to move forward. in such a move.
“Internationalization and extroversion are main goals”
The Rector of E.K.P.A. Professor Mr. Gerasimos Siassos emphasizes on the subject: “The internationalization and extroversion of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (E.K.P.A.), the first University in Southeast Europe, is one of the main goals. We recently announced new bilateral relations and collaborations with Universities in America (such as Harvard, Yale, etc.), Europe (such as the Sorbonne) and Asia. The establishment of branches of the University abroad is another step in its internationalization. The first step was taken with the important decision of the Senate to initiate the preliminary procedures for the establishment and operation of a branch of the University in Cyprus. The E.K.P.A. has a very strong name in the field of higher education worldwide with schools and departments with the highest international evaluations. The proposal to establish a Branch in Cyprus, beyond the clear national reasons, will contribute to the development of the University by acting as a connecting bridge for the creation of an international network of relations and collaborations, and acting as an indisputable ambassador projecting the modern image of Greece abroad. In addition, it will offer significant opportunities for the education of Cypriot students as well as attracting students from Asia and Africa. We are particularly satisfied as according to the results of the poll, the society of Cyprus is particularly positive about the establishment of the Branch of our University”.
