For 25 years now, the politicians of our prefecture have continuously tried to close the Mamatsio County of Kozani, having as a plan the existence of a Hospital in our Prefecture, which would be the Bodosakeio Hospital of Ptolemaida!!

They failed even in this as neither the favorable regulation of Bodosakeios’ submission to the status of barren (the doctor can after 5 years move to any Province he likes), nor the localist minds changed (political careers were built, you see, on these kinds of confrontations ), nor the years of obstacles placed in the development of Kozani County did not prevent the staff of our Hospital from proving that it can cope even in crisis situations, such as the pandemic, offering high-quality services, despite the building problems, (we were overwhelmed with emotion of suffocation due to space, fortunately the philosophy that even in the yard we will treat patients prevailed from the first wave of the pandemic).

Based on this spirit, we created a relationship of trust with the citizens of our country in recent years, we receive flattering words every day about the progress we have made, despite the adverse conditions for which we are not to blame, and we thank them from the bottom of our hearts!!

This was the way we chose and called out, strongly placing our mark on the health map of our region, as the most productive hospital in our Region (whoever disagrees should quote statistics from recent years, such as attendance, fullness of beds, surgical operations , laboratory tests, etc.)

This fact was understood by the previous leadership of the Ministry and proceeded with the 5,000 sq.m extension of the Kozani hospital (a project of more than 16cm E and in the renovation study of the old building, cost perhaps even greater than the first) embracing the basic proposals of diaNEOSis (committee of highly qualified professors – studies of which were requested and consulted by the previous Ministers of Health of the New Republic) who selected the creation of 20 hospital networks throughout the country, each of which will consist of a hospital as a “hub” and the interconnected ones in this as “radius” hospitals, with the Mamatsio Hospital of Kozani qualified for our region.

What has changed and Mr. Georgiadis is changing government policy?

Because while he himself told us from Ptolemaida that he has not dealt with the new health map last week, he makes announcements after a few days that define the map of the region without even consulting with any institution of our region on such a serious issue ?

Does he think that by qualifying as a <> Hospital for our region, a <> Hospital officially baptizes our entire region as barren and maybe in the next “Kapodistria-Kallikratis” law it announces our attachment to the Epirus region?

Is the Prime Minister aware of this change of course in the Ministry of Health or is each Minister following a personal political line?

It is an issue Mr. Minister that we will co-decide after a thorough dialogue, submission of opinions with arguments and statistics by all the involved bodies of the region, this is due to be respected!!

No one, no matter how good they think they are, has the right to decide as they see fit!!

It is the duty of all the institutional bodies of our region to be informed and take a public position!!

Always considering that health issues are above partisan, regionalist or any other twisted philosophies!!

First of all, health workers must advocate for humanity and at the same time be pragmatic!!!

With respect and always with respect to the opposing opinion!!
