Greece: The big project that is taking place – This is the highway that changes the Peloponnese

The completion of the E65 will mean the transfer of interest to the Peloponnese where another breathing project is being implemented.

It is now ready longer section of the E65 motorwayLamia-Karditsa-Trikala-Kalambaka, while the delivery of the last 46 km until Egnatia Odos.

THE E65of course, it will not be the only new road axis that strengthens the highway network of our country, promoting the safe travelsand regional development, as other projects follow.

After the completion of E65, the focus turns to Peloponnesewith the road axis under construction taking the baton Patras-Pyrgos which will be incorporated into concession of Olympia Road and is scheduled for completion in the summer of 2025.

According to information the construction progress is around 40%, while up to June expected to be completed over 50% and by the end of 2024 80% of the project.

The highway will have a total length 75 km., of which the 13 km. will be in existing engraving and the 62 km in new, through the valley of Elis, The design speed is 120 km/h.

The project has been divided into three construction sites (Midilogli-Karaika, Karaika-Gastouni, Gastouni-Pyrgos) each of which has been taken over by a group.

The new highway will have 2 lanes and LEA in each direction, with intermediate central dividing strip. Eight interchanges connect the highway to many villages and towns as well as to the industrial zone of Patras, with almost 200,000 users.

The modern highway will give the area the convenience of road access and the entire region the possibility to rearrange the tourism and the general development environment of the area in question with economically, environmentally, and socially sustainable activities.

They are predicted two front toll stations in X.Th. 8+450 between A/K VIPE and Kato and Kato Achaia as well as around X.Th. 67+900 between A/K Amaliadas and A/K Pyrgos.

There will also be lateral toll stations at the Uneven Junctions of Kato Achaia & Amaliada. In the new section of Olympia Road, two bilateral Motorist Service Stations (SEA) and KES will operate around X.Th. 21+000 and 72+000. 15 bridges, 8 junctions, 27 overpasses and 37 underpasses will also be built.

With its completion, the safety of travelers will be enhanced while the journey Athens-Pyrgos will be reduced to approximately 2 hours and 45 minutes.
