Others two identical attacks with her Renti which resulted in death of police officer Lyggeridis had carried out the hooligan who were arrested for the fatal incident. In one of them they actually had launch and again naval flare against the MAT.

According to her data police cited by Alpha, the attacks were not isolated, but carried out on the basis of a comprehensive plan that resulted in the death of the MAT police officer.

At December 12, 2021 before a match outside the stadium, in Piraeus, a large group of hooligans, led by “No. 3” of the organized fans, attacked a platoon fiercely, with many objects, while this one gave one of the little ones a naval flare, which threw it at the police.

By luck the policeman raised the shield and did not find the object in his abdomen, as he might have been dead since then. According to the same information.

Her next day a new attack took place on Makrygianni Street where a MAT platoon was located, against which Molotov cocktails, flares, etc. were thrown, with the police noting that the specific attacks were identical to the attack on Rentis.

What protected witnesses say about the hooligans’ attack on Rentis

On that particular day, a protected witness reports: “The call was made through online applications. It was heard that the plan was to carry out the attack against the Matatzis at the specific stadium and not at SEF or “Karaiskaki”, because these stadiums have cameras, while “Melina Merkouri” does not, so it would be particularly difficult to identify them by the authorities”.

At the same time, the three protected witnesses gave the police important information that was key to the arrest of the physical and moral perpetrators of the Lyggeridis murder, as well as for other fan incidents.

“According to A’s order… when he would drop the molotov he was holding, we would continue with the items we had. O… had two naval flares on him and they were on the forwards. M… ordered us to return to the field and we ran to avoid arrest,” the witness also said.

“M… became very concerned about the naval flare he fired at the officers. He was looking to find the remnant of the navy, which he had given to someone else to dispose of. So did the others. They made sure to throw the remains into rainwater and some burned them in the toilets of the stadium,” he continued.

According to the police, the criminal organization had a hierarchy, the leaders were the ones who decided when and how the incidents would take place.

“Usually they sit inside the pitch. Some wear a badge and make decisions both about the organization of the stand with slogans and about big episodes that are going to happen. They are the ones who will have the first and last say on how and when the attacks will be carried out.”

The organization was divided into “big” and “small”. The big guys recruited young kids from 16 to 24 with the lure of free admission to the stadiums.

“The leadership team distributes entry invitations to the “little ones” to enter the stadium for free. They also send them on various errands. The awe and respect that the “small” feel for the “big” is enough for them to submit to all their commands.
